When building a website with flash software, the back button takes you out of the site. How do I fix this?

mark r asked:

In other words, when I try to navigate using the back button (arrow) it takes me completely out of the website back to Yahoo. I can navigate around the website using the link buttons. But I think most people visiting the site will use the back button and thus lose the site. I’m trying to make it more user friendly. What am I missing? Just as a reminder it is flash software. Thanks a million!

that is what happens when you bild your site in flash. You can’t disable the back button (its a browser security), so the best you can do ,is have your “flash” open in a new window, but then you run into the problems where this irritates people

90% of people who visit flash sites do not “hit” the back button. They only do so, when they want to leave the site altogether.

embed the snazzy parts in html pages.

you can still even use flash buttons, (not that i recommend that, but you can). and point each link to a different page.

you are now in the usable website zone. this is where design separates the men from the boys.

your right about the back button.
