xampp localhost very slow?

Protein asked: I use xampp to test my web pages and when I refresh it would reload quickly. Last night I installed Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008
to work with dotnetnuke and now localhost is extremely slow on both
IE and Firefox.

Does this have anything to do with Microsoft Developer or is it something else.

What is the best web host for Joomla?
