Myspace + Big Corporations?

hi asked:

why do jack in the box (http://www.myspace.com/jackbox) and Fox (http://www.myspace.com/sunnyfx) use myspace? they can afford their own website. Even as a marketing gimmick…it sucks. Who gave them the dumb idea of using myspace?
it doesn’t really attract new customers, it just encourages old ones…in my opinion.

Because every one and their old grandmother is on Myspace. Might as well advertise there too… After all too much advertising is never a bad thing.

It’s owned by Rupert Murdoch. Who happens to own Fox and other media outlets. On top of that, I’ve read that people who go on myspace.com and create an account their information is stored on some database. No such thing as privacy…Sucks ain’t it.

They are putting their products out in front of their target audience, young people with disposable income. The fact that you noticed this, regardless of how you came to notice, and had a reaction is exactly the reason for putting these sites up on MySpace.

the mere fact that you noticed them should give you the answer.

exactly it is your opinion, but they use Myspace.com as a free advertising platform. It cost nothing to get there name out to millions of people. It is simple and ingenious

it’s a free website that millions of people will see! free advertising that reaches millions of people is valuable to these corporations, and so they use it.
