Is it possible for me to design my own software?

Dragonfrog asked:

Well, I know it’s possible, other people do it, but the question is, “How?” Do I need to buy some special software-building software to do this? If so, could you give examples? If I can just do it with my regular computer, could someone tell me / give a link that says how?
For example, the creator of Pivot seems to be just some guy who designs software and animations and games and stuff. I have Windows XP.

ya, but i think you need to learn some computer programming languages like javascript

“other people do it” .. Do you mean people that you know, or programmers in general?

What are you designing for? A website? Or a program that runs on a computer (doesn’t need internet) ?

There’s not really a slap-together program for software design, so you need to learn a coding language. I can’t recommend any since you didn’t say where you want to design software.

It really depends on the language and the operating system your using.

For Linux distributions, many have python and perl interpreters on them.

If you’re going to use a proprietary language like VB or C#, be prepared to shell out some dough for the .NET framework.

Others like C++ and Java just need a compiler and development kit which are all provided free.
