Was the site ranked to begin with (google page rank)? What’s the page rank now? Does your website have original content (content which cannot be found on any other website, non repeated content). Wouldn’t recommend having a professional site through a free service provider suich as wordpress.com anyway, but it depends what you’re using the site for.
Sounds like you got the google “slap”. Are you posting blogs with your website or editing your blogs frequently? If you are…wordpress pings every time (even making the smallest change)and sometimes you are slapped by google. There are many reasons other than this too. It’s really hard to say. The other answers have good points too. I don’t believe you are building links or promoting too quickly though. I usually get indexed within 10 to 30 minutes with brand new sites and domains. I build backlinks very quickly and haven’t experienced this yet. If you are blogging check out max blog press ping optimizer and read their article about how pinging adversely affects you. They need a verification page to be able to access your site. You can do this either via html or meta. If this is a free WordPress.com site, here’s the trick:
1. Sign-up for Google Webmaster Verification and opt for html type of verification. Copy the “googlexxxxxxxx.com” phrase.
2. On your wordpress dashboard, create a page with title as “googlexxxxxxxx.com” then publish.
3. Go back to your Google webmaster account and click verify (via html).
