shawneeee77 asked:

Any successful web developers/ designer out there?

I am graduating with my associates in general studies this summer. I finally decided on what I want to do which is be a web designer. This spring semester which is the last for me at a community college I decided to take a html class which is (Web Standards introduces common Web Standards as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium. Topics include HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, and WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative.) The course emphasizes the important role standards play in Web Site development. Students learn how to use these standards to create and structurally mark-up web pages.)

By Fall of this year I’m going to continue for A B.A. in computer graphics or information tech. which ever falls into web development. I just want to know my next step right now!!!!

I did it practically the same way, learning websites from the ground up using just html, and now I am a designer/content manager for an organization in Dallas.

i suggest gonig to sites adn seeing things that you think look cool and try and find out how they did it. A practical way is to save the page and start by deconstructing the HTML into segments adnseeing if it works on it’s own or needs an additional file to go along wiht it to work. if you have a web designing program, like Dreamweaver or Frontpage, you cna do it in these programs as well to see “what makes it tick”

also, check out some html developers resource sites for learning basic HTML, java, css, etc. great examples for the basics to the pros include:

and for the cool little web functions out there, like making interactive navigation bars, use some DHTML (Dynamic HTML). A site with great tutorials, step-by-step how to’s on every page, and more, see:

PS: If you want to have some hosting to try some of this out on the web for others to see, i recommend using the same hosting i’ve used — great price and good deal. :)

    enjoy!
